Terms of use
Last updated October 7, 2026 · version 1
In short
- HowFarOff is free to play. We do not sell any data and we do not show ads.
- You need to be at least 13 to create an account. Sips 18+ is for adults.
- Be nice: no offensive names and no messing with the service.
- We do our best, but answers can be wrong and the service can go down.
This is a translation of the Swedish terms of use. In case of discrepancy the Swedish version applies.
About the service
HowFarOff is a party game where you guess numbers and whoever gets closest wins. The service is run by Patrik Björklund, a sole trader in Sweden ("we"). These terms apply to everyone who uses HowFarOff, with or without an account, and by using the service you accept them. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
Account and PIN
You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. You can also play as a guest, without an account.
You are responsible for your PIN. Pick one that is not easy to guess, do not share it with anyone and log out on devices that others use. We never ask for your PIN. If you have forgotten it, see the contact page.
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account.
Names
The name you choose, as an account name or a guest name, is shown to others. It must not:
- be offensive, threatening, sexual, racist or inappropriate in any other way
- pretend to be someone else, for example a famous person, another player or us
- contain someone else's personal data
We may change or remove a name that breaks these rules. The host can also remove and block players from their lobby.
Sips 18+
This mode is for adults. Confirm that everyone drinking alcohol is at least 18. Sips can be taken with any drink – alcohol-free works just as well.
The host confirms the age for the lobby, but we do not check anyone's age. Everyone plays at their own risk and is responsible for what and how much they drink. Drink responsibly, and never drink alcohol if you are going to drive or should not drink for any other reason.
Workout
The exercises in the Workout mode are done at your own risk. Adapt them to your fitness, skip anything that does not feel right and make sure there is room around you.
Questions and answers
We check the questions against sources, but an answer can still be wrong or out of date. If you find a mistake, please report it. The result stands as it was shown in the game, and nothing is at stake except glory.
How the service may be used
You may not use HowFarOff in a way that harms the service or others, for example by:
- trying to get into someone else's account
- disrupting or overloading the service, or getting around our protections
- collecting questions or other content automatically
- using the lobby, names or feedback to harass anyone or spread illegal content
If you break these terms, we may remove names, block you from the service and delete your account. In case of serious or repeated abuse, this can happen without warning.
The service as is
HowFarOff is free and provided as is. We keep developing the game and may change, add or remove features. We do not promise that the service always works or is available, and a game in progress can be interrupted, for example by an update. A lobby disappears 2 hours after the last activity. We may also shut the service down, and if so we will say so on the website well in advance if we can.
Liability
We are not liable for damage that occurs when you use the service, such as lost stats, outages or consequences of the Sips 18+ and Workout modes, except where we caused the damage intentionally or through gross negligence. Your rights as a consumer under mandatory law are not affected by these terms.
Rights to the content
The questions, texts, logo and code in HowFarOff belong to us. You may use them to play, but not copy the question bank or use the content commercially. If you send suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve the service, without compensation.
Purchases
If you buy a host pass, the purchase terms apply to the purchase, in addition to these terms. They set out the prices and what applies to the right of withdrawal and refunds.
Changes to the terms
The date at the top shows when the terms last changed in substance. Before larger changes take effect, we will tell you about them on the website. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. If you do not accept them, you can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account.
Law and disputes
Swedish law applies. If you are unhappy, contact us first and we will try to sort it out. As a consumer, you can also turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN), arn.se. Otherwise, disputes are settled by the general courts in Sweden.
