A quiz with your friends, right on your phones
A quiz with friends usually means someone has to write the questions, read them out and keep score. In HowFarOff the game does all of that. Everyone, including whoever started the game, guesses on their own phone, and the game works out who got closest.
Trivia with friends, no quizmaster needed
The question appears on everyone's phone, and on the TV if you have one. Everyone types a guess before time runs out. Then the right answer appears with a short fact, and the guesses are revealed one at a time, from the furthest off to the closest. Points are counted automatically, and after the last question the final standings are shown.
Nobody needs to prepare anything. The questions are ready to go, and with Play again with the same crew you get questions you haven't had before. It works like a quiz app for several players, but nobody has to download anything: the game runs in the browser.

Everyone has a chance
In an ordinary quiz you either know the answer or you don't. Here every answer is a number, so it's all about guessing as close as you can. Someone who has never heard of the Göta Canal can still guess better than someone who has sailed it. That makes the quiz fun for mixed groups: friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
It also means nobody has to feel stupid. The guess that lands furthest off usually gets the biggest laugh, and the next question is a fresh chance. With hidden standings, nobody knows who is leading until the final, so even whoever is behind still has something to play for.
Try two questions
These two are not in the game, but they are in the same style as the questions there:
How long is the Göta Canal in Sweden?

Make the quiz your own
- Categories: choose from 10 categories, such as space, film, music & pop culture, and sweden, or let the game mix them all.
- Number of questions: 5, 10, 15, or 20 per game.
- Language: the questions come in English and Swedish, so friends who don't speak Swedish can join in.
- Teams: play individually or in up to 6 teams.
- Standings: hidden until the final, or each player sees their own position during the game.
Quiz with friends remotely
If you can't meet up, you can play an online quiz over a video call. Create the game on a computer and choose Big screen, share your screen in the call and post the game code in the chat. Everyone goes to howfaroff.com, enters the code and guesses on their own phone. The question and the countdown show on every phone, so it doesn't matter if the video lags a little.
