HowFarOff The party game where everyone guesses a number – closest wins
How it works
- 1Create a game
- 2Friends scan the QR code with their phones
- 3Guess the number – closest wins
The quiz where everyone has a chance
How tall is Big Ben? How many bananas does a person eat in a year? Every question in HowFarOff has a number as the answer, and everyone guesses at the same time on their phone. Then the right answer and everyone's guesses are revealed, and whoever is closest wins the round. Nobody needs to know the answer – you just have to guess better than your friends. That's why it works just as well at a pre-party as at the office or around the dinner table with family.
Three modes
The host picks a mode before the game starts. The questions are the same in every mode – what changes is what happens after the reveal.
Points
The closer your guess, the more points you get. Most points after the last question wins.
Workout
The further off you are, the more reps of an exercise like push-ups, squats or the plank. The host picks how tough it gets. Fewest reps wins.
Sips 18+
For adults, with any drink you like – alcohol-free works just as well. The further off you are, the more sips you take. The host sets a cap of 1–5 sips per question, and whoever is closest hands out a few extra. Fewest sips wins.
Teams and hidden standings
Play on your own or in up to 6 teams. A team can lock in one shared guess or let the median of everyone's guesses count. By default the standings stay hidden until the final, so nobody knows who's leading until the results are revealed. If you'd rather keep track, everyone can see their own position during the game, or the top 3 can be shown in alphabetical order at half-time.
Big screen on the TV
Got a TV or a computer in the room? Choose Big screen when you create the game, and the screen shows the QR code, the questions and the reveal to everyone while each player guesses on their phone.
Playing from your phone yourself? You can still put the game on a big screen: tap Open big screen in the lobby, or open howfaroff.com/tv/CODE in the TV's browser, where CODE is the game code.
10 categories
The questions come from 10 categories. The host picks the ones that suit the group or lets the game mix them all. After each question you see the right answer with a short fact, so you learn something along the way. The host also picks the question language, Swedish or English, and everyone gets the same questions.
